Thanks everyone for coming, running, singing eating drinking etc.

Hot from turning 700, Mr 'it's more than three and less than six trails' Weed gave us the run around. Effie was dismayed her targets stayed away as she ended up having to bucket he who made her spy. And the dish ran away with the spoon.

1064: SEAWEED IS 700!!

And Coach/Quench/Hare/Spy set a well marked and well hidden trail typically short but a long way to find....if only we stopped to think it out and/or took those extra few steps....
It was cold today, relatively so. So, we enjoyed a decent warming run and at last didn't fancy the chilly bucket. Not surprisingly Morange got the shivers, joined by Gibbo (the puff!?) and birthday boy S Weed.

700 runs is very impressive (or sad? depends on your perspective) but his down down was less so and a few ale shampoos needed rinsing. Pippin prepared the commemorative photo which sideshow, surprisingly unbucketed, enjoyed presenting.
Poor Penny was not very helped by her Pickly, Bummy, Razzy friends and just about mustered the toast - that'll teach her to come in a blaze of first.
Coach faux pas came when he complimented a couple of our gorgeous ladies on their looks - forgetting to mention all the rest. So I will. Ladies, girls and women of the Dukhan Hash, you are all GORGEOUS! & I Love you all!
Pippins comments were polite and distracted, obviously too much talking on the way round.
And finally, Rocky opened his car to find Rock had filled the vehicle with 3 hundredweight of common desert rock. Charming.

Morange took us to the top of a hill in the midst of soft sand and we were worried. last time it had been whatever goes down must come back up. This time. to the relief of most, no such luck. We stayed on the plane top. A good varigated run. Arman was first in and despite itching to make his own toast and Klipe's refusal to assist, the lovely Razzer got it all sorted. As did Seaweed, too long off the bucket, he's mellowed waiting his turn to spy. What's the square root of 29?
It was another of those evenings, the sun setting deep into the red red sea, as we watched the two coasts and passed the time until lotto called. Hi to Callum - just to see if you're watching!

It was attack of the bar codes. Gary had striped acres of desert - and unsuspecting wildlife - black and white. There were hills, uphills. There was soft sand and more soft sand and soft sand up hills. When it wasn't, it was rocky underfoot. It went on for miles. (It took us miles to get there too, good job we started earlier!). And I, at least, loved it! The final view was spectacular.
Jude the spy was entertaining but very kind to most of the circle.
The names Johny Bravo, Proclaimer, Scooby Roo were suggested, but it was Pestasaurus that stuck - any idea who that was that had come of (hash) age?
All in all, another Sunday reminder of how beautiful the world can be when the people, the weather and the location are so good.

1060 - BONFIRE NIGHT CAMP

It just keeps getting better.

A quick quote for now. Thanks - recollections, comments.. still to come, later.

"Fantastic Camp! The Epitome of runs! A Vanity of a Bonfire! A desperate collection of Guys! Simply Sumptuous and Never ending Banquet! Weather to kill for and location to die for! Company to live for! Music Quiz to, errrrr, wade for! Staryy skies to gaze all night to! A most Intimate of Survivor runs! The slappest up of breakfasts. Oh Me Oh My! On and On and On and ON ON!"

Thanks to everyone who came. I say this with tears in my eyes.
Particular thanks to the Coanch for the Foot tapping (was that some kind of Glaswegian courtship display ?) Quiz, the cooking and the cocktails.
To Klipe for getting the site, the gear and the bonfire..that spectacular bonfire.. sorted out.
To Pippin for all her usual many tasks without which little would happen or work.
To Sideshow, Rock and Funky for surviving and tidying everything up so sweetly.
To everyone who brought the fantastic food.
And to everyone again.

Effie's thai green curry and beanie for 40 went down a real treat. Excellent, thank you.
The evening in the warm glow of Arab D was balmy and beautful, so we lingered. A taste of the weekend to come we hopes.
Klipe as normal set a challenging run. I was happy at least.
Virgin Spy 'Big Gary' finally got a chance for revenge, and was completely out of order in his selections.
Kelsey became 'Chelsea Bun' and is an official Hash regular. Well done, Bun.

See you all at the camp!

Virgin Hares, Bummer'n'Bob, set an impressively really good run, a superb location, sensational weather, the best of company, decent trails, decent bits in between and a real sod of an on in. rocks for rocky, softs and for the bums, a dugong for the curious and a few beers at the end of course.
Clouseau kept us from sundown to sunup recounting ancient hash history in his quest for the bucketable, and was rather unkind...no more than we expect or deserve.
Coach was back at the front - both of the run and the queue for the bucket.
Keep it coming.

A good weedious deeve of a run. The sun set deliciously over the lapping flat gulf sea, seagulls flapped lazily. Jess took the bucket with gusto, Sea Weed and Methusela fed the crowds. We were happy to see Rebekah and Alan, Grant, Janet, Mme Klipe and Wendy & Howard and all those back from their hols.

If anyone has pictures from the camp, and/or memories to share, please share them. You can comment here or e-mail dukhanhash

HHH. Historic, HotnHumid, Hungover.
Lo, as at 7 am we decided to get the Live RUn over and done, up screeches Methusela to join in. The two D's (Dave and Danny) didn't understand (or sympathise with) the moans of the rest and took us away and further away. Eventually, Pippin got to deservedly bucket the young stopupallnight and keepeveryoneawake gang.

The history, that small bunch of survivors are the names inscribed in the first column first page of the new Hash Book (taking over from the first one started in 1981).

Breakfast was gooooooooood. Full English.

Final thanks to all who stayed and cleaned up. Especially Klipe who checked back after everyong had left at 10am. I'm proud that the site was left spotless and drew the comment "If only all people used the beaches like the Hashers"

1055 Eid Camp

Some Hash thanks. Biggest thanks to everyone who came to the camp last night, we thought it was a real success - so, big thanks to you guys - for coming along and bringing your positive, relaxed attitudes with you. Special thanks of course to those who worked hard to make it all happen: Klipe the invaluable if camp Hash Camp, Clousseau the charading braai, Coach for more questions than answers and the cocktails and other refreshment, Bubbly - hash matress given up for Hash Catering, Pippin for all round contribution and constant support, Meths for the power and tatties, Morange for the breakfast treat.
It was great to see so many, and already there is talk of another camp sometime next month (Guy Fawkes Nov 9th maybe?) watch this space.

Eid Mubarak!
It was a case of the DTs, DESERT TOURS, courtesy of our Rowdy. Some trek out, to the frequently viewed but rarely hashed between Zikrit and the main road - and amongst the camels. Up up up to the plateau we climbed, but once up, there we stayed for 3 good long runs and some interesting geological features. On On the hare!
Delighted to welcome Brooke and very happy to welcome back two stalwarts, Pegasus and Squeaky.
Dave G did a confident job on his last minute call to spy and will no doubt continue to be on the receiving end for a while to come. Josh came out an easy first in the battle of the Clarkes.
And, despite our best efforts, we managed to lose no dogs and no hashers.

See you Thursday for the camp!

1050::&::COACH'S 500th

today's pictures courtesy of long John

a big one this time. Great to see such a turn out! Well into the thirties - it must be a long time since we've has such numbers without providing food or mulled wine or such!
Last week we were thrilled to welcome Lorraine and John. This week we were delighted to welcome Roger & Bev, Dave G, Dave F and Jeanette.

Klipe had set the run in one of my favourite bits of the coast, and althoug it pains me to admit it, seemed to get it just right: good running ground, long gaps between the trails, clearly marked, some deviousness, kept us all together at the same time the runners could run and the others didn't have to.

Potter struck out for the youth again, (and as usual got a deserved bucket again too). Danny spied with a keen eye for the rules and etiquette. He needs a name by the way the more apposite and unflattering the better!

Really it was the Coach's day. Coach is a real stalwart of the Dukhan Hash, indeed a defining character. A distinctive and well-loved Hash Master and caretaker of the horn, Designer of many a tee shirt, Hash Camp entertainer and quizmaster extraordinaire, often Mr Burgers and Steak, uncountable recipient and administerer of the bucket, and currently our essential 'Quench', to name but a few of his contribuitions. Congratulations on an incredible 500 runs of the Qatar West Coast Hash House Harriers. and On On!

Next Week, Bubbles is doing food, that's normally worth the entrance fee alone!

Ahhhh Good to be back as I almost collapse from dizzy dehydration on standing up from the bucket.

Great to welcome some new faces... Jude, Jess and Effie.

It's been a long hot and humid summer (so they say), we were down to four, so well done to those hardy souls (just enough..a horn, a hare, a spy and a runner). And welcome back everyone else.

Klipe chose a wonderful location, got us to realise that it's not so bad to be back after all. He suggested it was short and easy....we should have made him run it all!

Coach didn't need to say anything, he might as well just have told Clousseau Eddie Morange and Rocky to get in the middle as usual.

We celebrated a Happy Birthday Down Down for the Fast One coming of age this week, well done.

A couple of other hashes to mention:
Happy 2007th to the Qatar Hash this week on Friday, hopefully one or two of us might make it down to join your celebrations, thanks for the invite.

Personally, many thanks to Ballbanger and the Hua Hin Hash for their hospitality, fun and jungle runs - much appreciated...and Happy 2nd anniversary to the Cha Am Hash too.

'Fast' Alan F's 2nd Hash and already a wet hare! At the top of a hill in the barren summer desert we were greeted by fish! Dry fish! The run was well set albeit a rather celtic shade of green. Some long trails, some hills to climb (it was worth the fabulous panoramic views) and some soft sand (Shame bummer wasn't here to perk up). Thank goodness for the nice breeze. It was good to see an athlete (Sean) back amongst us (said through gritted teeth) and good to see Rowdy for a consecutive week. The fleet footed Coach got back to winning ways. Potter made a decent fist of the comments - though a bit too complimentary I thought, then again an impressive job by the hares in the conditions. Good to see them still alive in fact! Stevie Abbott was remembered.
It was VERY good to see Pippin (and her cheeky sidekick GP) back again from their relaxing trip to Dubai (and Spennys). Coach got a barbeque going and with FireCracker and Flymo providing all the necessaries to make it a delicious 'Beer Can' (think Jamaican accent) and sausages burger bash in the beautiful balmy summer evening on the heights of Dukhan overlooking the Persian Gulf and, with Weedy's telescope, watching the little people walking around on the crescent of Venus and the orbulations of Jupiter's moons!
Another Wonderful night. Thanks all. See you in September!

We warmly welcomed Alan, as Fast as his brother Ed, and Rowdy, back for a Sunday (yes, Sunday) run. We thanked FireCracker and the Coach for a superbly marked run, just the right length. We thanked Pippin and the Kennaways for a fantastic Bash on Friday. Rumours that Morange and a dog had been found at the bootom of the pool next morning were quashed. We sadly missed Zared, her speech, down down and farewell bucket as her packers had let her down -we thought we saw them driving lost round the desert several times Rosa. Anyway, all the best, enjoy Spain, we're sure you will. Nice to see Gus for 2 in a row, unfortunately, despite the more conservative shorts, it was 2 buckets in a row....Glaiket thought he needed another for going on leave (with her) this week. Otherwise. The rock had too many rocks, Potter was detrumpeted and we hope SeaWeed persuaded Pippin to make next week's hash a bit special.

And sweetly became the night. Good old days. On On.

1039 PIPPIN'S PARTY

Potter's Holiday Homework Assignment to write the report of the run.....

The Rock reports on the evening:
At Pippin's there was a big rectangle pool in the garden, full of water and wild children splashing their parents. The parents poured cold water on them (Morange). And they had too many beers (some of them), they sat outside and had a talk that got noisy. They went inside and had Pip's delicious spread. We think they were hungry! But they saved some for us. There was a bump which we won't mention. We played Cluedo and dripped on the floor. The parents got noisier. Then the raffle. Bubbley had hand painted 1000s of tickets and sold about 10. After the first 145 numbers we got our first winner! Coach is ready for a fruit punch, Rob will have to start cooking, Glaiket didn't say no to loadsa booze.

1038

Good numbers despite it being a Sea Weed special. South Fahahil. First trail frequently lost. Soft sand, for the ladies apparently. But then, astonishingly well marked, and long.
We remarked on the cowardly absence of the thesps who'd performed an all too public satirical assasination of our hash at the weekend. Still, Fast Eddie had plenty of holiday goers for his extended, chilled, bucket!
Last week it was the golf range, this week baseball.
And we now have Hash Red tee shirts -if you're quick.

Not many of us today...were we still tired from the weekend? Good though to see a healthy turnout of youth. Shame as SeaWeed had created a most wonderous of runs...or so we believe. We decided to leave that for more runners next week (are you listening everyone?) and went for a live hash instead.
Which is where we started to regret the healthy turn out of youth. Josh took us a long way from the cars. Samuel then took us in the same direction. But further. And further. I think the older generations were delighted when Zared identified the On In before one or two other trails had been found.
Phew. Potter and the Rock waffled a bit amid no end of kliping* from legolas before rightly bucketting all those healthy youths and unjustly wreeking revenge on Coach and Rocky. Somehow we two oldies were the ones got soaked. (*future spies please note the original Klipe mysteriously absent on his last hash before leave).
A few final sketches for the cabaret were discussed whilst those yoofs lined up witht heir golf clubs. Another happy hash family.

1036 Zared's Retirement Bash

A fantastic turn-out. For an irregular Hash, a live hash, a hot day hash, a weekend hash, an after the night before, before the night to vcome kind of hash. Mad dogs and hashers? So, Super to have Adam back...all the way from Oz (via RLIC). Great too to see the Friday hashers, Pegasus and Rowdy.

Pipin kindly took us miles away to a multi-directional scenic location, just perfect for those live hares keen to run and run, falsely or not. Still, we should have been aware what we would be letting ourselves in for!

Josh's toast was first class, Rowdy lived up to his name, at length with the comments and Rocky got to spy for the first time in a year. Not many escaped.

And so onto R Z's for the evening.

To be continued..... Where the night was easy and relaxed. The food wonderful. Crosby Stills Nash and Young waved through the tropical air. Of course, Rosa danced. Hashers arrived from the woodwork. Darren played organ. So it seemed. Rosa danced. All we all went happy and sweetly to bed.

Thanks Senoritas A Red.

It was long. Difficult. Soft sand. Up down up. Devious.
Pippin told Klipe what she thought in no uncertain terms.

Still more from the coach. Even more deviously based on Friday's trial, he had us going in a whole variety of directions at once, and rarely the right ones. It's humid and sweaty, but a nice breeze and another good turn out. Even little Anya made it round, at three must be one of the youngest to get round a whole hash on foot. No wonder she's flaked out on the couch now though.
It was one of those times, feeling like the hash family again as we chewed the grass, plotting cabarets and stuff well into the evening as the night gently fell.
Sideshow Mo was first in for the first time since Leah McCon was here - gentleman Potter letting her win (?), Monsieur Klipe got wet for depriving the town of water and flooding the valley, and Darren for abusing ice (?) Apparently SeaWeed didn't notice much as he was too intent studying the moons rocks or something based on what Bummsy had said. That was his excuse anyway.
After this weekend, Fridays are looking popular. Sea and Esmerelda decided to entertain us on the 2oth and then Pips will do us on the 6th. Groovy.

Anymore for anymore?

1033 - Pickle, Bum and a Coached BBQ

Was it Friday, was it the smell of Coach's cooking.......whatever the appeal it was wonderful to see Pegasus and Noisy (now Rowdy) John back with us again and we welcomed Clive, Zared and Mo back tooand a good turn out despite the heat.
The run was well marked, devious, flat, doubling back and through prickly bushes and soft sand. A good run - for Mo at least - and manageable too for the rest of us.
The ever fitter Andie got an old nickname back - having come of age (21) recently we christened her Pickle, narrowly preferred to Randy with Fakhir too difficult for most to pronounce. Anther baptism for Annie's foster mum, Kate, who was resoundingly called Bummer and wished she'd never opened her mouth last week.
Newly baptised Bummer got her revenge on Bubbles for the suggestion, revenge on Zared for an earlier bucket and revenge on Clive for something. How the Coach escaped we don't know.

And then

It was on to Firecracker's and Coach's for delicious burgers and a wonderful, happy, relaxed late Hashers night. The music got louder despite Coach turning it down becuase of the neighbours (it was the neighbours kept turning it up). Methusela led us in jive. The girls P and B did their down downs. Rob kept getting down to do press-ups.
A fantastic night. Thanks to all especially Coach and Cracker.

Twas hot, humid, but a dusty breeze to calm things down M. Klueless drove us to the shore. Nothing like Biffo Blade's murderous marathon of last week. So he said.
The trails may have been short (thanks Kanger D?)but the bits in between were as deadly anything any Morange has done.
Good to see still good numbers turning up. And no wonder when we are complimented as being the 'Hash with the Good Bums' at least that's what Barbara tight arse (name pending adjudication) reckons all that soft sand does to us!
The Coach was finally made spy again and certainly didn't miss perennial favourite, Klipe, not our wannabe beer juggling fly catcher (yes, really). I think he was close to a mass bucket, but someone's stolen his big blue vessel.
So, we are in for a rare Friday treat on Friday, with run 1033, normal time normal place and then on to Coach and FireCracker's. The run promises to be 'something special', the venue's always good.

A very Welcome Back to our ever devious hares Fast Edd and Flymo. And to their shorn Declan and welcome too to Becky of Blackburn.
The run was to be expected, always simple but with tricks and turns that kept us all wrong often enough. The weather's starting to get warm, it was dusty, the soft sand was soft and the rocks rocky - plenty there for everyone to have something to moan about. Not much representation from the school - we think they can't handle the summer, despite the later start time, I guess they'll say they've reports due in soon. The desert remains green in places and, I thought, it was a rather pretty trail.
The ever faithful Pippin came of age and did a birthday down down thanks to Potter's tale telling. Happy Birthday Pipps!
Not too much drama today. Haircuts got the bucket. Mr Weed rushed off to...?..get his telescope out again it was suggested. A number gathered back at Bubbles's for some chicken and home made wedges. Great to get the Hash crowd together, laughing into the evening.

1029 Weeds Beens

OK so Rocky can't count. It wasn't the 1030th. That's next week.

This week we were treated. Our old Salt (Sea Weed) cooked beans. And a pan of sausage. And a spicy veg dish. AND chicken ginger pasta! WOW! There werén't that many of us, but we polished the lot off. In part as not content with all that work in the kitchen he (and the girls Esmerelda and Ellie) had set an endless run for us too. As the coach said, it's a good job a bit of cloud came over otherwise we'd have been carrying them home on stretchers. Moving on seamlessly (?) it was great to see the well-missed stalwarts Fast Edd, FlyMo and Firecracker back with usagain. It was hashy, hot and sticky. On On. And on to
Zared was finally spy. Pretending not to remember any names she seemed to have a found a reason to bucket the lot of us. Hashless hats, missed trails, unfulfilled promise, not running, last minuted On Ins, and of course uncontrolled doggy motions. Klipe kliped his way to safety.
The telescope (and the beer?) keep a crowd well into the night, where we became Wigan Latics for the evening and endured a nervous end to the premiership. Plenty of wild life as we drove home. See you next week when it's a later kick off.

Another absent Hare. Ne'er mind we enjoyed Pegasus' run if not her missed physical presence. You won't be surprised to hear it was long, straight, had four legs (for most) but was not that hard.
We welcomed Barbara - a long way to come to celebrate Razza's 40th - at least she brought the weather with her from Wales. Good to see Zared back too. Nice to see a new car too, and to see the quench at long last.
Speaking of whom, not content with holding us up at the start (only the quench _could_ get away with that) but then cutting short the run - indeed missing the 4th trail completely - in order to be first in for the 4th week in a row......well, no wonder Coach got the bucket! And Potter, Legolas where are you? We clearly can't count on Clousseau for a sprint finish.
A word of ettitiqette: If others have not yet completed the previous trail it is impolite to find the next one. Just turn a blind eye and jog around for a while. On the other hand, it is acceptable to lead others away from the On In before calling it - if you are competitively inclined.
We enjoyed wishing RazMaTaz a happy birthday. An evening of Hash and Bingo - only need the blue rinse to really set out your stall for the second half, eh! Start as you mean to go on! Still, the down down was down before we'd even said down.
Next week Mr Sea Weed will be feeding us.

There was the reluctant hare, the sick hare and the absent hare. There was the almost absent trail and multi-coloured trail and the suspiciously located On In ("Oh yes, I deliberately pointed you all the wrong way" Yeah right Pippin.) Nevertheless, it was nice to see some of the lesser hashed desert, and as Darren said we seemed entranced by the flora and fauna - himself stopping to eat desert nuts, consider well dressed buried women and disturb a thump (!??!). There was something for everyone. Thank you Pippin.

Fabulous to see our numbers swelling again, and some old favourites back amongst us. Esmerelda Weed in particular. Great to have hashers lingering till the box near went dry.

The Coach came in first. Again. No wonder he got the bucket. 4 weeks on the trot. After over a hundred runs it was finally Kanger Dallas' turn to spy. She made Kate blush. Apparently that's a first.

And onto the milestones. We have another 'Senior' Hasher, another 'old lady of the hash'. Twas RazzamaShaz's 100th run. Still, being in her thirties, she's isn't really that old yet. Yet. Well done ....and down down WITH chaser next week. There should've been a picture here but Bubbly reckons the camera broke! Shame.

Several of our 'juniors' have completed 20+ runs = a frequent hasher, so we're looking for names - F A-R, Andie and Kate. Danny is coming up soon.

Welcome back to visitors Peter and Natasha, and longtime otherwise occupied Sean. And to everyone else. Especially good to see the younger hashers back en masse again.
The trail was rocky, bumpy, soft sand, winding....and that was the drive in! The run was more of the same with plently of hidden tricks deviously included. A good run round the hills betweeb Arab D and the cemetry. Mo,Gary and Danny did their best to get lost. And finally, Sean was first in, and even with Pippin's help twice couldn't manage the toast. Klipe was refreshingly honest in his critque of Clousseau's run - nice to hear good old Dukhan Hash traditions after all these months of gushing obsequiesness. Razzer clearly enjoyed taking over the bucket, and after her comments about Sean's body had all the men lining up to be selected. Not quite a mass bucketting but she can expect at least 8 'return' buckets in the near future anyway.

And when the hares go to extreme and opposite lengths (Sqweeky, Clousseau) and even run falsies on the On In (Squeaky), it proves to be a bit much for my aging legs. Still the flies were flying. Ellie might have been able to catch them, but Mr Co-ordination Clousseau proved to be as Clueless as his name suggests. The Klipes April Fools' Palm Sunday Beanie Day (1021)

Lent done. The track was soft. Long. Straight. Hard. We worked for our beans.

Welcome back almost everyone (so what happened to the others?). It had been a surprise holiday. The night was delicious. The curry was delicious. The coach no doubt bucketed the usual suspects. And the young fellows.

I love it, me. On On.

Hash camp soon. Check the tent. Torches. Pegs.

Flies, buzzing zubbing *****ing flies.

Signals the start of summer? It was close, sticky. The coach and the cracker had set a perfect trail, long but not too long; nice and flat and rock free, big spaces beween the trails. I enjoyed it anyway.
We named farty pants the Dancing Queen, or was it the other way around? Klipe set hinmself up for plenty of cooling buckets in the coming months for a mean spirited attack...lent must be taking its toll.
Nice to see a few old faces back.
Beans next week.
See you there.

Dedicated to mothers.
Meths had confusingly set a sneakiest of trails but seemed to want to get us to find it in a hurry. Kanger was presented with her 100th momento, and keen too to down down, thanks to pippin for rousing the gang. Glaiket enjoyed revenging numerous miscreants. The bucket's getting colder, and so did the evening as we enjoyed a good humoured circle staying as the wind got up and the sun got down. At the onset of the blond jokes it was time to go.

Super run set by the coach and fire cracker. Andie was a true gent and let Mr Weed in first. We eventually got the song (come on HM, get something right!) and were able to award Pips and Glaiket their awards for turning 100. Kate gor some just revenge. And we all went home for tea.

A very welcome back to 3 long lost favourites: Morange, John and Mo. The coast was stunning, we almost had an impromptu camp.
Coach flashed a flashing furrow along Hare Waldo's well marked trail. Klipe is making a serious bid for Hariest Hasher 007 - and at this rate we'll let him do it.
Rocky's memory has gone....and for different reason's than the Weed's.

Waldo described it as an anagram of carp, and as he was hare, who would we be to disagree. It was a day of celebrations, 2 young ladies, Zared and Mylene coming of age, and and even younger girl Kanger-Dallas celebrating her 100th, Down Downs, Happy Birthdays and all.
Fast Eddie, like an elephant, has an endless memory and on an evening that turned chilly got a some year old revenge. The Bailey's finished, it was goodnight to another good night

A very warm welcome back to FlyMo, and, completing his first run in months, a typically streamlined Fast Ed.
What was amazing. The first over-18 first in for some time! There were no under-18s with us tonight. All regular hashers so all those false trails in the obvious places will have to wait for next time. Mr Weed hasn't quite yet worked out which way round his trousers go. Several variations were tried during the course of the run. Eddie came back covered in mysterious handprints on his generous zones - culprit remains unidentified. Waldo's bright shorts of Lent distracted us all.
We had a big rules dispute when several hashers spat the dummy because they couldn't find the On In straight away. We think Danny and the Coach were with us but they had their own senses of direction.
Like the good old days we stood in the one circle, anjoying the craic and the weather well beyond regular time down by the east coast until it was time go for the hash curry and bash.
There was something hilarious and something clever that I had to write. Hope I remember them...

1014

Remarkably calm a hash tonight. Lovely to welcome Veronica. Good to see Francesca back too. Down by the golf course and the sea and the land was flat and the sun was cool and the wind was still and all was calm and flat and still and beautiful.
As becomes the Coach, the route was well marked, the ground runnable although the run was somewhat of a saunter, no falsies, but none needed as all trails were sneakily conceived. On On Hare.
Of course a Milne ..or two...was in first, again, ...and Potter who, with Danny and Ruben proved in tridem they HAVE been practising the 'winning' toast. Legolas seems to have lost interest content to let his brothers play catch up. We are pleased to hear Sandra is happily back in Abderdeen where the weather is as sensational as ours.
To avoid Darren getting bucketted for the umpteenth consecutive time, he spied and caught Razzer cocking her leg in a dangerous manner, Danny thugging and Potter twice overtaking the spy. So, they, with Weedy for vengeful retribution were wetted.
And after that, only Alfie seemed to have any life left in him.....
see you all on Thursday?

*************NEXT WEEK 4 pm START*************

There was much controversy tonight over how well-marked Mr Weed had laid the trail. Razzer was impressed, but the Coach not at all. I think that's because he thought he was clever following footprints back to the car only to have to come all the way back for the ON IN (and one of the longest on ins in memory - for which Weedy blamed the fog ). However, as Coach was spy, it was his opinion that counted and the Hare got wet. Me, I think we've cracked it: let Sea Weed set the hash, leave a couple of weeks to mature and come back to it. That's two 'found' hashes in a row using that system!

Otherwise, of course the Milnes couldn't be kept out of the limelight. How Glaiket managed to avoid the bucket for her pantomime melodramatics? And then Danny, not wanting to be usurped by Legolas (who was being distracted by the lovely Tesni) , came in first. We'll have to cobble them from now on.

Lastly. An ettiquetic reminder. a) When calling the next trail, just check that (at least most of)the rest of the hash have checked in b) When setting off on the next next trail, make sure those behind know where the check in is. The Milne boys will still beat you anyway!

Fab Fab Fab - Pippin and Zared cooked up a curry or two and the pan was licked clean so good they did us. Well worth being let off the bucket for getting completely lost EVEN WHEN FOLLOWING the Hash Convoy!!!
The desert was green. Yes green. Weedy was looking for fuggers, don't think he saw any. Andie and Clousseau set long trails in the much commented on scenic environs of Arab D. (?) Danny got his revenge...on the ladies and children (Razzer hotly disputed the name lady, but Gill was shocked by the novelty and accepted the title). Legolas came in first yet again, I think he was showing off in front of the very welcome newcomer, Sandra.
The weather's super, the food was fab, the company outstanding...where were the rest of you!

Alannah's Hash

It was a warm welcome back to John and Rosa, indeed it was a little warmer than the yet another cold rainy Dukhan day we'd woken too. A beautiful crisp day, a wonderful panoramic setting, the islamic new year and the show entirely stolen by the youngest ever Qatar West Coast Hash House Harrier, who, at the age of 6 1/2 weeks ran the entire run, albeit mostly asleep and occasionally murmering. Very welcome Alannah and ON ON! Congratulations to Clousseau and the Lovely Kanger Dallas.

Otherwise
Rosa became Zared, obviously. Mr Weed bucketted many - or not. Potter celebrated his new name with first and a commendably clear toast. Sideshow enjoyed her first bucket. Pegasus ducked and dived and Meths got wet instead. Coach set us a challenging run, himself included!

or Curries Beans Flames n Names

Can't keep Legolas (Louis) out of the headlines! I think he's been practising the toast and so HAD to come in first -again - today, I'm surprised he wasn't bucketed for it. Having completed 50 runs he was due his name: suggestions included King of the Swingers, T Rex, but he's so like the girl made of lego, it had to be that [I must check my sources - and spellings - on that one]. He did get the bucket for that at least.
As did Gari Potter whose name just so obviously chose itself, even though mum tried to protect him with Krusti the clown (same trousers if you had to ask)

It was a cold welcome back to the school crowd - Danny, Kate and Darren (they've learnt to tell the time it seems) - together with Squeeky D who complimented Weedy on excelling himself with a scenic, varied, distant, devious, double done and all found trail. Fast Edd made us hot by the fire, and we needed it, while Glaikit and Bubbly heated us with good grub (will the vegetarian who licked the pan clean like to own up?). Thanks you four.

The lovely Hash Mattress had had plenty of down downs before picking up her crystal award for 200 runs - think she was still going from last week. The monogamous Rocky - despite what the cruel Razza says - enjoyed awarding himself a 300th crystal. And thanked the Hash and Pips.

The Hashers
A lot of festive welcome backs, notably Seaweed, Coach & Firecracker returned from hols. A very warm welcome to Ben and Brian Sullivan - we think Ben enjoyed it, but the red lips caused much speculation - and we'd all like to see 'Cameraman' Brian's film. Well done to Andy for finding and joining us out in the desert wilderness despite our having left her behind - that's dedication.

The Run
On the flatlands between town and beach was of typical Simpson length and quality, which tested the returning coach who barely had the breath left to make his rather too polite comments. Louis Milne starred again, with a first in and clear toast even if there were some crumbs (blame his Mum?).

She's a Hasher Through and Through - So They Say
There were congratulatory Down Downs for three of our ladies. First Pippin gingerly sipped her way to 100 runs, next Glaiket delicately swigged down a cup on her 100th, finally the new Hash Mattress, Bubbly glugged bubblingly for her 200 - and is still glugging we believe.

Bucket
Klipe (aka Wilhelmina) maintained the feminine tone of the day, and put the new veterans, Pippin and Glaiket along with Andy in the middle - for no obvious good reason - as to be expected. Coach was in there too for kliping just to represent the boys.

NEXT WEEK
BONFIRE AND BEANIES - Don't miss, and tell all your friends!

On On!

Welcome to 2007. Our first of the year, the 1008th run, will take place on Sunday 7th Jan. Methusela and Pegasus are setting the run, so guaranteed to keep us warm!

Last week, a cold new year's eve run, saw just the few hardy regulars out - a shame as the course was set with some of Dukhan's newer hashers in mind...

Waldo enjoyed a rare first in, and that after all the keener runners had walked over the On In in contempt.
Louis Milne starred as spy - his first time - entertaining us all and punishing brothers Ruben and Danny along with Callum Klipeson - all for legitimate and good reason.
Have fun back in Edinburgh, Callum.

We need to think promptly of a name for Rosa and then Louis and Gari. And we've a few '00ths coming to note.
